It's been a while since I have done it but I believe Flash will insert the
code into a website to prompt a user to download it if they don't have it
installed. I would find it hard to believe though is a user is not using a
browser that has Flash already built in since new versions of IE and NS.

I think it's a good idea to do only an html version of a page if your Flash
page has alot of animation and music that some dial up users may not have
time to download. Personally I *hate* making two versions of pages. It's
always been one thing or the other, A Frames and no frams page, and IE and
NS, etc. etc.

I found a site the other day that I have been messing around with. Some very
cool stuff on there. http://www.flashthief.com/

Subject: Flash detection - is it necessary

OK, so i decided to jump into the world of flash creation. I am
almost ready to put up my new site with flash in it and was
wondering what you all do for flash detection? Is it necessary?
Do most newer browsers come with flash? Do you build an html
version also just in case the user doesn't want to see the flash
site? I am not making anything terribly spectacular, just redoing
the menu system, case study etc. It is a very small file size
actually so i am wondering if i even need to provide an html
alternative...
thoughts?
