And your doing better is a direct result of Bush action? Or is it
because you are 4 years older, and have moved along in your career
path?

Regardless of my personal position (which is better than 4 years ago,
but much worse than 8 years ago), I do not feel the country is better
off than 4 years ago. Our debt is higher. We are in more danger than
ever before. The government is siding with big business against me
every chance it gets. The government no longer is a protector of
individual freedoms and rights, but is now the main threat.
Immigration is a problem. The trade balance is not heading in the
right direction. Taxes are higher than ever, and I am getting less and
less for them. And the rich are getting richer than ever at public
expense. Gas prices, housing, insurance rates for car and healthcare,
personal privacy, safety whenever I go overseas. The government
interfering in science. The price of cable and internet access.
Electricity. Heating oil. Clean air and water. Treatment of our
returning servicemen. The number of soldiers wounded and dying every
day.

And the absolute worse? Everyone is so friggin depressed about it. The
entire American public is in a funk: pissed off, irritable, not very
nice.

I can't think of a single trend line that I like at the moment.
