CBGBs is near the East Village so if she were going there it would
definitely be a recommended spot. But I wouldn't go out of my way to
get there on a Monday night, anyone can play as long as they tell them
they'll bring people.
Even on weekends only the last two or three bands are worth watching,
if you're lucky.

Guiness moved to Vegas I think, like six years ago.
Next to the Blue Note? That's 6th and W 3rd right in the middle of the Village.
