I think she caught me right at the moment where I looked up and saw my time and thought, "holy shit! I can get under 1:40!" and took off with a kick. (I was in the second wave and I wasn't sure exactly how many minutes behind the first wave we were, and I saw 1:42 on the official time - and I figured I was cutting it close to finish in under 1:40.)
But, really, there wasn't much anguish. It was easier than I thought it would be. There was a smidge of anguish in the bike to run transition - right after I got out of sight of the crowd and my legs were saying, "walk just a little bit, pleeaaassssse, no on can see you!" and my brain was saying, "shut up - we're running this thing if it kills you." So, it wasn't a stroll through the park, but it wasn't as gut wrenching as I expected. On 6/13/06, Zaphod Beeblebrox <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > congrats!
