What I'm saying is this: it's accepted fact amongst the HBS-type
circles that Bush single-handedly destroyed 4 businesses through risky
or just plain stupid maneuvers.

Further, the millions he's currently made are from the Rangers and
that was basically a gift engineered to look like income by a guy who
wanted a patsy in Austin.

Either way, however, people believe what they want to. But compare
him to, say, Mitt Romney. Mitt's got a similar education, but TONS of
business credibility and a loooonnnggg list of successes. Good
business people have that. But, people spin it the way they like
rather than the way it is.

I'll tell you this: even those that like Bush, but who are aware of
his past business dealings, say things like, "Well, he's better
politician." or "he's a good salesman" Which he is.

He's got a good down home folksie appeal that a lot of people like.
He's also got good family connections, and that doesn't hurt. But he
never wanted to be a salesman, he wanted to be a leader and he failed
at it.

He also wanted to be a politician and he did that to great success.
