The reason the British burned down DC was in retaliation of the US
burning Toronto. Of course back then it was called York and was the
capital of Upper Canada.

The piracy and impressments was only part of the reason for the war. The
reason we invaded Canada was because we didn't like the idea of having
British neighbors. Many also claimed that it was a drive to liberate the
Canadians from the British

To this day Canada is still a Constitutional Monarchy, with the Chief of
State being Queen Elizabeth II.
