Wait for the new chip.
It's not about cutting edge, it's about value for money and longevity
of the system.
Buy too far below the curve and you limit yourself in future upgrades
and reduce the value of your expenditure from the start.

What can be argued is that you don't have to wait for the latest
Direct X10 graphics cards due at the end of this year. I wouldn't wait
for those. When there is a mass of software taking advantage of DX 10
if you want to at that point you can probably purchase second or third
generation cards at a cheaper cost.

Overall the Dell XPS systems are good buys for gaming and top end
computing, and the price is decent.
