Your missing an important point here. Lebanon was getting out of the hole. 
It was growing, getting its tourist economy back on line and all when 
Hizballah just dropped this in their lap. There is a LOT of resentment on 
the part of the average Lebanese against Hizballah. Not in the south where 
they rule (both figuratively and literally with all the government seats 
there going to Hizballah) nor on the part of the Syrian stooges in the 
government, but the average man on the street really hated Hizballah.
That's why the whole Kana media manipulation was done. Make the people and 
the world hate Israel and see Hizballah in a better light. Luckily it's 
failing as actual facts are getting out.

Bottom line is that they want the average joe as human shields, might even 
want them as members, but really don't care about the average joe past those 
two criteria. If they did, then they would not have started this whole 
thing.
