Because they started a war over 2 kidnapped soldiers. They were provoked to war. They should've lined up their allies, planned the total annihilation of Hezbollah, and then attack in one large devastating blow. Instead they though they could run an air war. Didn't work. They thought they could send in a few troops. Didn't work. They thought the World would understand. They didn't. They knew all of this but they allow themselves to be provoked to attack. Now they've got limited options and 1 ally. And, after 3 weeks of bombing, all they've got to show for it is a pissed off planet and record attacks and death tolls on their homeland. They dropped 28,000 tons of explosives on a bunker only to have Nasrallah put out a long speech the next day!
