I don't know... as a (now former) Bostonian all I can say is that California's just too damn far from the ocean! ;^) We're just finally settling in after our big move. It takes a while (a long while it seems) but it does happen eventually. My one big warning would be to set rules for the kids right away even if it seems hard. We loosened all the rules for my son because he was so miserable: we let loads of kids in the house, let him give out soda and treats to his new friends and so forth.
