heh.  yeah, i spent 10+ years in Phoenix, so i'm somewhat used to the
desert (and the last year and a half in FL, so I'm still used to
heat).  But Redlands looked way more desolate than Phoenix.

I've been hoping that's just because it has yet to be built up...and
the building up is coming.  Maybe.  I hope :)

But one additional plus to the move is that my wife's family is from
AZ/CA.  By making this move, we're now within a 2 hour drive of one
set of grandparents, and several sets of aunts/uncles/cousins.  I've
been feeling guilty since we moved to FL that my kids are so isolated
from their family.
