I live on top of the Barnett Shale layer and natural gas wells are
popping up left and right. Normally they're not that big of a deal,
all you see after the initial drilling is a wide gravel road leading
to an 8 foot pump. Of course, the residents of the nearby city that
was recently evacuated because a valve broke of the pump and spewed a
geyser of gas into the air for 12+ hours might seem to think they're a
little less unobtrusive.
