I've been growing basil lately on my windowsill and noticed that the plant was weak despite lots of sunshine. The leaves were very light green and unhealthy looking. I switched to filtered water and its much happier.
Maybe explains why I can water my lawn till I'm blue in the face and it only really gets happy when it rains.
