This may sound strange, but even if I could knock a grand off the price at
CarMax, I wouldn't even try because I feel that the entire experience is fair
to both of us. Really, I just look at the car, look at the price, and if I
like them both, I buy. There is no room for any BS, and I know that for the
next three or four years I'll have a car that's always in top-notch condition.

Also, I've carefully looked at their maintenance facilities and certifications,
and they don't work in a "wrench pit." The floors are epoxy sealed a clean as
a whistle, like an upscale aircraft hangar, and the mechanics are all certified
to the hilt. The service writers out front are a joy to work with, and they
really make sure your car is handled as quickly as possible. Our CarMax in
Norcross has continuous parts replenishments throughout the day because of
their volume, so getting obscure parts in quickly isn't a problem.
Respectfully,

  Hi Adam:

Actually yeah, I remember you mentioning Carmax when I was out there
taking your class. So you trust that the "no haggle" price is for
real (e.g. the salespeople aren't commissioned and that the price is
  really the lowest they'll go)?

  Thanks,
  Charlie

salespeople, instant financing, and a reasonable service plan. The thirty-day
warranty is a real ass-saver, too. There was a hairline crack in a front ball
joint (under a rubber boot, so it couldn't be seen) of David's PT Cruiser
Thursday night, and it broke while he was pulling out of a friend's driveway.
The wheel came off and it damaged the axle. This was a real and understandable
fluke because of the way the crack was hidden under the protective boot. They
covered it immediately, gave Dave a loaner car, and paid for the towing.

the financing, and it's saved us a lot of money over the years. Great peace of
mind, too. They used to call it an "extended warranty," but it's nothing like
those ridiculous scams of the same name they pull on you at Best Buy and
Circuit City and the like, so they changed the name to "service plan." Well
worth it.
