This weekend on Meet The Press Cheney said something to the effect of
"we are much more secure than if Saddam was in power"

Huh?

How can that be given what we know now:

1.) Iraq had no WMD.
2.) Iraq had no link with Al Quaeda.
3.) Iraq was possibly an ally against some Al Queada forces.

>From a purely US perspective Iraq has been nothing but a money suck
and the gov't that's been created is openly supporting Hezbollah.
Hell, they're only one step away from being Al Quaeda supporters. And
that's cost us $300 million, 2,500 American lives, 25,000 Americans
wounded, and 50,000 Iraqi dead. So that we can build a Hezbollah
supporter???

Some of the counter points I've heard are that Iraq WAS pursuing
nukes. So the feck what? Iran is too. And NK possibly already has
them.

benefited us at all?
