I disagree with you big time on this. I think the only way to prevent war is to have a 3rd party that has the moral high ground and is a place to set global values. Which are hopefully Democracy, freedom of Religion, etc. .... That having been said, the current UN may not (and probably is not) this body. But it could be and that should be our goal. That's the only way to isolate and stop it. Governance 1.a) Executive - voted in by world elected representatives 1.b) Legislative - reps elected by member nations and made up of 2 bodies like the US 1.c) Judicial - investigative (ethnic cleansing), and prosecutorial (war crimes) (2.) Military 2.a) Elite "early in" force. 2.b) Main stop-the-war force. 2.c) Nation building and security force. (3.) Humanitarian 3.a) Economic think tank and execution (why did we invade Dafur but not China?) 3.b) Government creation 3.c) Relief (WHO, etc) Long story short, the UN forces would be quick reaction and elected by member nations. US citizens would elect some of our representatives and also vote for the head. It could be more parliamentarian too, but it would need to be 3 sided to help prevent corruption. Just a thought ...
