Sorry if I was defensive. The journal is important to me both because of what it does for the community and what it is to my wife. She needs to be reminded now and again what a great editor she is.
I'd love to have free distribution but it's a matter of scale and money. If we had 40,000+ subscribers, we could charge big bucks for advertising while still keeping under the 10% cap I want and not worry about overhead. We're just not there yet.
