I just wanted to be clear that for the average pet owner, these certainly 
*would* warrant a trip to the vet's.

Hhm, the policy I have is pretty comprehensive in terms of coverage for illness 
and injury. It doesn't pay for routine care (shots, HW meds, teeth cleaning) 
although you can get an add-on policy that provides some coverage for those as 
well. But that's stuff any owner should budget for anyway.
