it sucks, becuase if you look at the history of the American Pit Bull
Terrier and the American Staffordshire Terrier (the two breeds commonly
referred to as "Pit Bulls") up until about twenty years ago they were the
"All American" dogs, loved by everyone as a faithfull companion and
guardian.
Trivia: Petey, the lovable pooch from the "Our Gang/Little Rascals"
comedies was an American Pit Bull Terrier.
Freinds of Homeless Animals has dozens of AmStaffs AmPits and mixes.

It's the same around here, and I imagine everywhere.
I mean all the Jr. tough guys think they need one to proof their worth,

they have neither the strength nor intelligence to properly raise a dog

that.
I swear if I didn't have my sons I would adopt a bunch of Pitts. I love
them. As it is my wife won't even let me have an American Bulldog, since
they look like pitts.
