well, catch-22...if you don't reply at all, you'd end up getting
people posting stuff like, "i tried contacting the founder of the
conference but he couldn't even be bothered to offer a response" :)

i don't envy the position you were in.  separating yourself from the
face that is representing something else (in this case, your
conference...but it could be a company, a group of people
(friends/co-workers) or even your family) isn't an easy thing to do.

we all hear the mantra "the customer is always right"...but that's BS
:)  the truth is "you have to make the customer think they're always
right".  and *that* is a pain in the ass.

btw, just to clarify, i know you never called the guy a "fag" or even
used the term (not that i know of, at least).  i was just saying that,
when broken down, that's essentially what your response seemed to be
(which doesn't do much for making the customer think they're right) :)

in spite of the shitstorm, i hope the conference goes great.
successful conferences bode well for CF, which in turn bodes well for
us all.
