There will be those opposed to DELL, but: I still wholeheartedly recommend Dell purchsed thru their business division with the extended warranty/accidental damage cover. My latitude is still going strong after 4 years, has PLENTY of get up and go and I run all the programs you mentioned, plus Ourlook, 3 different browsers and other assorted crap.
Purchased thru their business division and you get American tech support. You also get next day AT YOUR HOME service if you make sure you have the right warranty. I'll never purchase thru any other company.
