The problem is that we can't win an insurgency and/or civil war with conventional foreign forces no matter how many we send. This is one of American history's biggest "I told you so" moments. Remember Colin Powell's "Pottery Barn" rule? And the you-can-win-the-war-but-you-can't-win-the-peace argument? It's why "stay the course" isn't polling well anymore.
