Musician's Friend is good site for online purchases. Even for a beginner, you should get a good guitar, because a cheap one will be difficult to chord, making it harder to learn. I have an Ovation that I like a lot, and also an Epiphone. Pawn shops and used instrument stores will often have name brands at good prices.
