While I agree that a FAQ would be great, I don't agree with your statement about SF 
shows being canceled. All shows are canceled, not just SF ones. The problem is, the 
general public tends not to have the attention span and/or intelligence to handle most 
good SF. This causes SF shows to be canceled "early".
Look at B5. It was set to 5 years, it ran 5 years. While the start was a little shaky, 
it had a definite plot and flow. The producer stuck to it and it worked. 
Look at Andromeda. It's chock load with back references, continuity, interesting 
characters and more. Problem is, it's to cerebral. Sorbo dumped the current writer so 
he can get more 'Hercules' action in. Oy.
DS9 went on for 7 or so years. At the end it was fantastic. It followed events from 
one episode to another rather than being a random plot generator like Voyager was. But 
people liked Voyager because of the 'monster of the week'.
All the above ranting is based on a single thing, the good gets flushed on TV.
As for Otherworld mentioned below, I totally agree. I still remember every episode of 
it and truly wish there were more.
