Its usually the 'quest' shows that get canceled before they're done and those are the ones you want a proper ending to. ST:NG was a monster of the week show. B5 was mainly a quest. Voyager was both with the quest being remembered as an afterthought rather than being the central element. Doing a cheesy 'saved from the future' was not the ending I'd want.
