That's good. If and when you do have to do that, see if you can convince her to skip the lawyers and just buy and sign the forms. It's easy to do if you agree on who's going to get what: you just write in on the form, get it notarized, mail it in, and you're done. For now, just to protect yourself and your kids, I'd at least get something in writing with signatures that says what the new arrangement is and why.
