You speak the truth. And, from a performance *feel* the E55 is
probably close. But let's remember, cars like this Viper are track
toys that are increasingly comfortable to drive to the track. The
Viper is thus far the ULTIMATE American muscle car. It clearly is
attacking the Corvette Z05 and winning. The 'vette is much maligned
for it's *horrible* daily driver ride. I'm guessing the Viper fixes
that as well as boosts performance.
And I say all this as a HUGE german car fan. (I have an 05 S4 and 06
A4) The thing is, German cars are made to be Autobahn stormers: you
can be chatting on the bluetooth and easily pass a truck. Even the
new RS and AMG cars are not built to be track toys.
Audi's lean towards safety, all weather performance, and performance
in the twisties. Benz leans towards the drag strip (although the E63
softened the E55 quite a bit. Maybe that's not good) and luxury. BMW
is in the middle. All of them are built from a luxury platform and
then performance is added in.
The Viper is built from the track and then softened for daily use.
TOTALLY different philosophy. This fecker is a beast. Wow.
