There are several agencies that hire former military members. Some take
anyone from grunts to cooks. Others only hire from combat arms, and then
others only hire ex-spec ops. These are PSD positions (Personal Security
Detail). These are guys that go around in civilian up-armored SUV's (Toyota
Sequoia, Fort Excursions, Ford Explorers and Toyota Land Cruisers are the
dominant ones). They take the security missions that the military passes up
on, like escorting Army Corps of Engineers folks and such. These guys start
at well over 100K US annually. They typically sign a one or two year
contract with options to extend. One that I know of is AEGIS. It is a
British company that hires from all over the world and that the US likes a
LOT. There are a couple more over there, but AEGIS is the biggest and really
the best one out there. I almost took a job with them but my wife whined too
much. Apparently I am worth more than a few hundred thousand dollars to her.
Anyway, these guys get modern weapons and are provided with very sturdy
vehicles. They do not have a web site, but if you want information, I can
sent it to you off line.
