what an excellent point. Free as in freedom, too. I think that in many ways this discussion does boil down to the open source question -- total cost of ownership vs empowerment and spending in the local community rather than sending our money to some distant mololithic enterprise.
Since our program has a mandate to improve rural education through distance education that's actually an important reason to consider this change, beyond the resources it possibly could free up.
