No, I don't necessarily buy his story, but I also recognize that whether he
lied or not is irrelevant, because his statement was totally immaterial to
the question of who originally leaked Plame's identity. Fitzgerald knew all
along that it was Dick Armitage- he should have announced that and ended the
investigation, but instead he chose to go on a witch-hunt for obvious
political reasons.
