I bought my Escape four years ago. It came with a three years warranty, and
I tacked on a five year after-market warranty. I might well give it up next
year after the warranty expires, I haven't really made my mind up. I don't
especially care about cars, and my Escape is plenty safe (witness SUV
insurance rates), and I don't even really care about reliable transport, but
I hate having to deal with repairs. If I can get another year or two out of
it after the warranty expires without any major repairs, I'll dump it.
