My wife and I just got going serious on this. We both had 401k's, but that
was it. We both readily admitted that we didn't know enough and this was an
area where we didn't mind paying someone else to help us out. So we got a
financial planner and are happier that we did.

Got started on our Roth's, fully funded them from last year, and set up
disbursements ongoing for the current year. Not fully funded, but we may do
one time catch up deposits towards the end of the year.

If nothing else, meeting with a good financial advisor taught me a ton about
how investing works.
