1 & 2 stem from the fact that people love to be so close to the action,
I would think.  I still get chills watching that old-skool wreck where
the engine goes careening through the crowd... wheew!  Took balls
to go watch that schtuff, wouldn't wanna take the kids, etc..

I've heard tell of the rumble in the belly, that happens only in close
proximity to a bunch of horses charging-- sounds pretty nifty.

Would be fun to drink beer and watch, like baseball, I think.

I don't really watch races by myself-- sorta like golf-- but with
friends, it's much more entertaining, I can really get into it.
