Tenure doesn't mean untouchable or whatnot, as much as
we in or near the field like to portray it as such.  Really there
are all manner of ways to skin that cat.  Transfer being the
one I see used first, sorta like that "you'll be stationed in
Siberia for the next few years, soldier!".  There are other,
less pleasant methods as well.

But there wouldn't be that stereotype if there wasn't that
bit of truth or however that screwy bit of logic works. =P

disturbing-- yeah, a life lived well and all that- just
doesn't seem as much /fun/.  ;-)

Vigilante justice, while a poor substitute for the
other kind, does sound pretty cool.  Vigilante.
