The biggest problem I have with these hybrids is that they don't get awesome gas mileage. Especially when you turn on the AC.
There's a ton of vehicles available in the European market which get better gas mileage that pretty much all of the american cars. But American's don't want to drive little tiny cars. And I bet those little tiny european cars aren't particularly "safe" either in terms of crashes and such. Mass transportation will always be the best solution, but we're so spread out here and in love with our cars that it'll never really work outside of the largest cities. I drive 25 miles each way to work. It takes me about 35 minutes. I could take the bus. It would take 2 hours, because the Triangle Transit Authority is horrid.
