Yeah, this is an interesting point - although you could take that $174 and buy OSX. To your main point, look at Nintendo's Wii: it's not trying to compete with Sony or MS, but it's got its own niche anyway. Maybe that's the strategy. You're right though, somehow they need to be in this space although I don't agree that the existing gamer game is one that has to be played; they may invent their own and become the disruptor yet again. E.g., take Audi. If you compare them to every consumer vehicle made, they aren't big and they don't compete.
