I have nightmares about Clipper and dBase III. I ran the Louisiana Army National Guard Recruiting warehouse off of a Clipper/dBase app. It got rewritten a few years ago into Access.
I still have the old Microsoft FORTRAN compiler. I keep a working 8088 laptop around because I have to do the same for an old client too. I keep trying to persuade this guy to let me rebuild the app in C# or C++. I could do it in a few hours and he would never need to pay me for the FORTRAN compile. What is crazy is the new app would run in real time, in a GUI while the old app required him to save his model from Excel into a tab delimited text file, read it into the FORTRAN app and import the tab delimited output back into Excel. Hell, I even own the license on the core procedure that the app uses so it wouldn't cost him anything else. > Of course, MS bought Foxpro, did not develop it inhouse. > Does anyone else remember FoxBase+ Mac? How about Clipper?
