Businesses care what Microsoft is doing. Internet applications like exchange and sharepoint are truly innovative in the business world.
I don't hear a buzz about Google or Apple's DRM model because that isn't something I deal with in my day to day life. Our new exchange system started arriving this week we are moving all students, faculty and staff over to Exchange. We are working on a new sharepoint farm, it isn't ready yet, and we haven't really advertised it yet, but I still get emails and calls from people wanting to use it. Google and Apple get buzz in the media because they are flashy and shinny. The flashy and shinny things just take attention away from the real world. The desktop isn't dead, the desktop won't die. The FAA said no to cell phones on air planes, so people that work while on the plane still need desktop apps. Web apps are slower than desktop apps, they break when new browser versions come out. I think a lot of people that don't deal in large enterprises don't understand the innovation that comes from Microsoft. People like this that don't know anything about the 60k person Enterprise. They see an individual and a computer using some remote application they use for free because they see ads on one side of the screen. That isn't new. Nothing Google is doing is innovative. Offering 2gb of storage for webmail isn't innovative, and best I can tell everything else Google has was bought. -----Original Message----- From: Gruss Gott [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] The article is not about money it's about innovation. Microsoft doesn't do that. They don't create new markets. They will take over an existing one - one where a disruptor has already been, but they don't create new stuff. The buzz right now is about Google's huge new data centers and Apple's DRM model. Nobody gives a shit what Microsoft is doing and that's the point of the article. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Upgrade to Adobe ColdFusion MX7 Experience Flex 2 & MX7 integration & create powerful cross-platform RIAs http://www.adobe.com/products/coldfusion/flex2/?sdid=RVJQ Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Community/message.cfm/messageid:232114 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5
