I think it's down to geographic location as well as the weight of the
site... The tracert shows 17 hops of which the last five are all responding
in around 150ms. Up to hop 11, we are well under 40ms... There also seems to
be a router config error as I'm seeing a loop where my packets are going
through the same IP twice... Very close to the iconbuffet end of things.
That surely cannot help matters.

According to Firebug, all the css files are loaded in under 200ms each
whereas, I can see several images that are taking 5 or 6 seconds to download
for this site... Even with the browser multi-threading and loading files in
parallel, the sheer number of files maxes out the FF thread limit so I see a
lot of images queueing...

On the last try, the time was 14 seconds with an empty cache and 1.8s with
the images being cached...
