I have a few pairs of shoes like that. I have a pair of birkenstock-like
sandals that actually have no sole left, and the leather is finally coming
apart at the edges because I'm walking on the top part of them, but they are
SOOOOOO comfortable I just cant bear to part with them. I did stop wearing
them too much in public and stick to around the house when the BF finally
said something. I also have a pair of leather Keds that look like a baseball
that I've had since I was 20. I simply can't bear to part with them...

As for clothes, if I have a favorite, I'm the same way. I'll wear it as it
turns into a rag. I have a Yankee shirt I bought in my early 20's that is
faded, has holes and rips, but I won't throw it out until it physically
can't be worn as a shirt, and even then I might frame it. In fact, I'm
wearing it now with a pair of blue Adidas track pants that I bought years
before the Yankee shirt. They don't make them in this fabric anymore. I sew
up the seams when they start to come apart. They look perfect! :) They fit
perfect. They feel perfect. Who needs new clothes?
