Have cash handy for the tolls through NY. I don't know if you've
driven on our lovely throughway but it's 90% toll... there is a toll
from the time you pick it up until you reach Buffalo (I don't think
there are any other non-toll portions) and then on the other side
there are tolls from Hamburg (southern suburb) to the PA state line.
I guessed your vehicle size and route (Mass Turnpike to PA Line) and
the tolls came out to be $30 for a two axle vehicle (total, they
include towed vehicles) over 7' 6". You can do your own calculation
at http://www.nysthruway.gov/tolls/calc/index.html

The nice thing is that you don't have to get off the throughway for
anything, they have convenience areas every 30 miles or so that have
food, pet poop areas, bathrooms, gas, phones and info spots. I think
I saw that some or all of them were being fitted with WiFi access as
well.

If you already knew all this, great... I was clueless about the fact
that the first sign you see when you cross the NY border reads,
"Welcome to New York. Toll Booth Ahead."
