Yeah - that's why I think hybrids are a dead end for cars, not that I mind having the electric technology developed but Ford, GM, and others can barely sell a single Hybrid which shows that the Prius is more fad than anything. On the ethanol front, I vote for non-food based crops like Jatropha over sugar and corn: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jatropha I love the electric technology, especially for sailing where prop spin, wind, and sun can charge the batteries. But for cars it doesn't make any sense even if you consider the development of the technology - to what end?
