Subject: first time in DC area

So, business is paying for me to go to CF-United.. I've got the hotel,
flight stuff all taken care of (the main Hotel was full when I got my
reservations so I'm staying at the Marriott on Pooks Hill).
Anyways, I've never traveled to this area, and wondering how public
transportation works. Particularly bus travel. My wife and I are
planning the trip and what we can do while there. Anyways some of our
traveling either to restaurants or other places requires bus travel
with transferring to different buses. How and where do you buy
tickets? I imagine you just pay for the trip, not each individual bus
ride?
Thanks!
