Convoy security, patrols and door kicking as well as force protection are
all pretty much infantry missions as far as I see it. And yeah, I know that
I will have a steep learning curve. My unit is Cav like 19D Cav. I tried to
go air Cav but the unit is over strength, so I chose the unit I am in now. I
am also qualified to work on helicopters (I was a helicopter mechanic in the
South Dakota Guard), but since they are over strength I need a place and an
MOS where I can get promoted.

BTW, just for fun, what do you consider the "infantry" job?

Patrolling? Or kicking doors?

We had a lot of other MOSs patrolling and doing convoy security and
stuff, but not some many doing assaults and knock and cordons.

Just remember however bad it was in your current MOS, it will be worse
in the infantry. Especially if you show up in an infantry unit as an
NCO already, with no experience, they will give you tons of shit.

Cav like 19D cav or aviation? Cause air cav is a sweet gig.
