First off it was a biased simplification of a complex situation (but then again I thought you liked those). ;^) But sincerely I think you must admit that Iran (and North Korea for that matter) have both become much more brazen and reckless with their programs in last six or so years. This is not to say they wouldn't have continued without the Iraq war, but it's not unreasonable to conclude from recent events that they're using the distraction provided by it to move further and faster than they would have otherwise.
