when I go shopping, here are my rules: 1) Write down what you want. 2) Write down /specifically/ what you want 3) No, I mean make it so I can't make a mistake. 4) If you fail to follow rules 1-3, I'll use my judgment 5) My judgment sucks 6) You are not allowed to complain unless my judgment specifically contradicts what you wrote down.
My sister used to write out her shopping list as though it were an essay test.
