I'm always hesitant to tell people to go in and break up a fight
themselves...it certainly is a good way to get yourself hurt badly. Definitely
never, ever try to pull them apart by the collars, or get in between them. A
hose *may* work but not always...in the house you can use a ABC fire
extinguisher in the same way. But the really only decent way to break up a
fight is with TWO people. Each grab the tail or hind legs of the dogs and pull
them back and swing them out and away from each other. That's generally the
method most experts recommend.

If you do foster dogs again, I would stick with just one and try to make sure
you don't get real dominant dogs, particularly other females. You may want to
consider using a muzzle if the dogs are in close quarters as well.
