I don't. :) Not arguing for Creationism or whatnot- but I know what MikeD is talking about. Scientists LOVE to challenge the known "standard", it's what drives many of > them. Here's my stock experience that gets at the heart of what Micheal is getting at, I believe: In high-school, I was in a "special" program, and we had some high-faluting scientist come give us a speech one time- Anyways, they open it up for questions at the end, and a fellow student asks: "Is faster than light travel possible?"- to which the Scientist says "No- this isn't star-trek"!! The problem isn't limited to scientists, in fact, it's part of the human condition- that's where the Tao and those eastern "religions" come in- 'specially like, the ones that tell you not to focus on the "Material" (not just matter, but ideas) We, in general, don't like to have our worlds shaken up. It's much nicer to believe there is rhyme and reason and whatnot- easier on the noggin. Show me compelling scientific evidence that evolution is bunk, and I'll > become a skeptic in a heart beat. Fact is in effect much more fluid than one would hope; is the part that people have trouble with. How come it took years and years to accept things we call "fundamental" or "fact" now? Heck, I /love/ G[funkyO]del, and it took like, I don't know how long until people just accepted that bit about truth and proof. Or whathaveyou. A lot of physics guys don't have a problem reconciling science and the special whatnot some people call religion or whatever. And this was years ago*- It's when you try to replace the search for "how" with the answer to "why" where you run into troubles. I think. I think. =] *hundreds if not thousands by now =p ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Enterprise web applications, build robust, secure scalable apps today - Try it now ColdFusion Today ColdFusion 8 beta - Build next generation apps Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Community/message.cfm/messageid:242005 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.5
