I don't deny that they are both glory-seeking assholes. Still, I don't know if this would be getting the publicity it is if they were not involved. Of course, if one of the six were not a Dallas Cowboy, it might not be getting any publicity at all, as the families might not hae had the means to fight back.
Jesse Jackson was interviewed for the program I was listening to, and that imho was part of the excesses I mentioned. Amy Goodman asked him to comment on a statement released by David Duke, for crying out loud. What did she expect him to say? In that context he was rather restrained; he simply said David Duke's comments -- white people are being denied their civil rights, bla bla -- were not worth dignifying with a comment. Jackson added that he did not have an issue with consequences for a schoolyard fight, his issue came when one party receives none and the other risks going to jail for the rest of his life. I agree with that, actually. I don't know what Sharpton had to say and I don't really care. What I am not hearing in the coverage is the middle ground. I am sure there are people who don't know what happened, who like their neighbors of whatever color, and just like Rodney King wonder why we can't all just get along. And eat lunch wherever we please, white or black.
