I'd run ... they're trying to get work done for free. I've had it happen too
many times to not recognize what's going on.

If each task is pretty much the same, and you did the first one in a way
that sufficiently demonstrates what you can do, it's ridiculous to spend any
more time doing the rest. If they can't get a good feel for your skills from
the first of 3 similar tasks, then they've got major cranial-rectal issues
OR are just trying to get some freelance work for no compensation.

I understand design work is a little different from programming pitches, but
I wouldn't feel comfortable offering to create something on request when I
haven't even won the client/job yet, just to demonstrate that I can do it --
especially if what they request is exactly what they're hiring me to do.
Anyone in a hiring position, who knows what they're doing, should be able to
get a good feel for my skills by looking at what I've ALREADY done for other
clients.

In the rare instance that I did create something on demand, there's no way
I'd turn over the source files if I could help it until I was officially
hired.
